Caravan, Home & Motorhome Cracked Shower Tray Repair Service in Scotland & North of Newcastle

The shower trays of motorhomes or caravans are vulnerable to cracks, gaps, scratches, splits and chips due to frequent usage, lack of support as well as frequent exposure to vehicle movement. When any of these problems arise, they not only affect the appearance of the shower trays, they can also become a channel for water to leak to other parts of the motorhome, which can lead to more expensive repairs.

Anderson’s can address the aforesaid problems on shower trays using the revolutionary SPEEDCOAT system, a water- and slip-resistant polymer spray-on liner coating which contains active anti-bacterial and anti-microbial properties that fight mould, mildew and fungi growth.

The great thing about this repair system is that it enables us to tackle damaged trays without taking them out in place. That means, damage on the motorhome’s manufacture seals, wall boards and plumbing will not be a problem and no mess will be left behind.

The process takes less times and is more affordable as well. First, the cracks, gaps, scratches, splits or chips are repaired using a PU sealant or a specially formulated dual-component product. Then the surface is sanded to smooth it out and to ensure the polymer coating will properly adhere. Finally, SpeedLiner HC is sprayed over the shower tray. Once dry, it creates a textured, anti-slip finish and also lends the shower tray an added protection against damage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some commonly asked questions, if you have any others please don’t hesitate to contact us.

How thick is the spray-on liner?

To ensure the longevity and performance of the coating, we recommend a thickness of 1.5-2mm per application. However, we can double up the coating based on your requirement for a minimal fee.

What colour options are available?

Although white is the standard colour that we use, we provide 19 other stock colours to ensure that the coating will match or enhance the existing colour scheme of your motorhome’s shower or bath.

How well does SPEEDCOAT resist chemicals?

SpeedCoat has been independently tested and verified to resist a wide variety of chemicals. Likewise, it resists discolouration, deterioration and degradation that may be caused by bacterial and fungal contaminants.

How long will it take for the coating to be applied?

The time frame for the spray-on application will depend on the severity of the damage as well as the size of the shower tray. It normally takes us a day to carry out the repair and coating application on a standard-sized shower tray. However, we recommend that you check with use first because there are some repairs that will require the shower tray to be taken out of the motorhome and be brought into our workshop.

How long does it take for the coating to cure?

The coating usually dries in about 30-40 minutes at an average room temperature of 22°C (72° F). However, depending on the temperature, the product may take anywhere between 3 and 5 days to cure. Take note, though, that even if SpeedCoat cured slowly due to cold weather conditions, rest assured that the product will achieve its full strength and will last for years.

How much will I have to pay for a SPEEDCOAT application?

This depends on the size of the shower tray and if there are additional repairs that need to be done before the coating is applied. You can email us the photos of the shower tray that needs to be repaired or schedule a visit so that we can gather more information about your shower tray that will help us assess its condition and for us to deliver the right quote for the job.
